{"id":18,"date":"2026-04-13T07:38:42","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T07:38:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/2026.dimacompetition.ro\/?page_id=18"},"modified":"2026-04-27T00:16:43","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T21:16:43","slug":"regulament-concurs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.dimacompetition.ro\/en\/concurs-dirijat\/regulament-concurs\/","title":{"rendered":"Competition Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Competition Rules &#8211; Choir Conducting section<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>National Music Academy \u201cGheorghe Dima\u201d of Cluj-Napoca is organizing on 22-26 October 2026, the\u00a0XXI edition of the <em><strong>Gheorghe Dima International Music Competition \u2013\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><strong>Choir Conducting section<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The competition is open to conductors of all nationalities born after 1991, who have not turned 36 by the 22 of October 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The language used during competition and courses will be English.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Application Period<\/strong> \u2013 August 1 to September 15, 2026, at midnight (Romania time). On September 20, the selection panel will announce the <strong>32 candidates invited to participate in the competition<\/strong>. The names of the selected conductors will be published on the competition\u2019s <strong>website and Facebook page<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The application is ONLINE. Requirements for application:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Application form completely filled<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copy of an identity document<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good resolution photo recently taken<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete resume and a short BIO of maximum 800 characters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Video of maximum 20 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of these Regulations dated and signed by the candidate with the mention &#8220;read and approved\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of payment of the registration fee by bank transfer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The video of maximum 20 minutes must be a YouTube link, public or private with contrasting pieces, preferably. The repertoire can be choral a <em>cappella<\/em> or with accompaniment (piano, organ, orchestra etc). Up to 5 participants will conduct the Final Concert, at the end of which prizes are awarded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The repertoire and details about the rounds of the competition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>First Round<\/strong> (32 candidates) has one compulsory piece. The time for the first round is 7 minutes.<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Compulsory piece:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Giaches de Wert: <em>Vezzosi augelli<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates are expected to show their interpretation of the piece working efficiently with the double quintet. The piece can be run through but it is not a condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ensembles for this round will be two alternating double quintets, members of Transylvania State Philharmonic Choir<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Second Round<\/strong> (16 candidates) has two compulsory pieces and a list of 4 pieces from which one will be allocated to each candidate by drawing by lot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Compulsory pieces:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luca Marenzio&nbsp;: <em>Zefiro torna<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Valentin Timaru: <em>Rug\u0103<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Repertoire:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Felicia Donceanu: <em>\u00centre p\u0103s\u0103ri<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul Hindemith: <em>6 chansons<\/em> &#8211; n.1&#038; 6, <em>La Biche<\/em> &#038;<em>Verger<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Benjamin Britten&nbsp;: <em>Five Flower song<\/em> &#8211; n.5, <em>Ballad of Green Broum<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Francis Poulenc: <em>Un soir de neige &#8211; <\/em>n. 1&#038;2, <em>De grande cuilleurs de neige&#038;La bonne neige<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates are expected to run through the compulsory pieces and to rehearse the piece drawn from the repertoire list. Time allowed: max 17 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ensemble for this round will be Transylvania State Philharmonic Choir<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Semi-final <\/strong>(8 candidates) includes one compulsory work: the First Prize\u2013winning composition from the Composition Section of the Gheorghe Dima International Competition. This piece will receive its world premiere during the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All 32 candidates selected to participate in the competition will receive the score of this work on September 25, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second piece to be conducted in the Semi-final will be assigned to each candidate by drawing lots from a list of four works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Compulsory piece:<\/strong> the First Prize\u2013winning work from the Composition Section of the Gheorghe Dima International Competition<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Repertoire:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Einojuhani Rautavaara:&nbsp;Lorca-Sarja, n. 3&#038;4&nbsp;La luna&#038; Malaguena&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John Taverner &#8211; The lamb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jaakko Mantijarvi: Come away, Death<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Benjamin Britten: A.M.D.G \u2013 Prayer II<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Semifinal the time allowed is max 20 minutes. Candidates are expected to rehearse the compulsory piece and the piece drawn from the list of repertoire. The ensemble for this round will be the Transylvania State Philharmonic Choir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <strong>Final Concert<\/strong> ( max 5 candidates) the finalists will perform the pieces rehearsed in the semifinal. Prizes will be announced after the performances in front of the public. From the first round, the competition will be streamed live on the Internet<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"13\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All Romanian repertoire of the competition is available for download from the competition website.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants are asked to prepare all repertoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"14\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The order of the entrance in the competition will be made by drawing lots with the ocassion of the opening ceremony on 22 October 2026. All candidates are required to be present.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"15\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The decision of the Jury is definitive and without right of appeal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"16\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All candidates will receive diplomas of participation and certificates of active participants in the masterclasses signed by the members of the Jury.
