Bruno Mantovani – composer and conductor, director of Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (2010-2019);

Bruno Mantovani was born on October 8, 1974. A versatile musician, he firstly is a composer, but also a conductor; and he produces a weekly broadcast on France musique and runs the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse in Paris since August 2010. There he studied from 1993 to 2000, receiving five first prizes. His music have been internationally successful from the beginning, performed by soloists such as Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Renaud Capuçon, Jean-Guihen Queyras or Tabea Zimmermann. 

It is orchestral music that Bruno Mantovani composes the more. Faithful to conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Riccardo Chailly,Laurence Equilbey, Philippe Jordan, Susanna Mälkki or François Xavier-Roth, his music has been performed by prestigious orchestras such as the Bamberg Symphony, the Chicago Symphony, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the BBC in London, the philharmonic orchestras of La Scala in Milan, New York and Radio France, and the Orchestra of Paris.

He has received numerous prizes in France and worldwide (the « Grand Prix » from the Sacem 2009, a « Victoire de la Musique » for composer of the year in 2009, the Claudio Abbado prize from the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010). He was in residency at the French Academy of Rome (Villa Médicis) in 2004 and 2005, at the Besançon festival between 2006 and 2008, with the National Orchestra of Lille between 2008 and 2011, and then with the National Orchestra of the Capitole in Toulouse and the National Orchestra of Lyon.

 He composed a ballet (Siddharta) and an opera (Akhmatova) for the National Opera of Paris; he worked with the librettists Christophe Ghristi and François Regnault, with the chef Ferran Adrià and the choreographers Jean-Christophe Maillot and Angelin Preljocaj. His work regularly connects with the history of occidental music (Bach, Gesualdo, Rameau, Schubert, Schumann) or the popular reportory (jazz, oriental music). As a conductor, he very regularly works with the Ensemble intercontemporain and important orchestras such as the Simon Bolivar Orchestra in Caracas, the Orchestra of Paris, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of the Capitole in Toulouse. His works are published by Editions Henry Lemoine.
